That's incorrect. M8E supports 5GHz consistently throughout the day when paired with a strong processor and proper board configuration. Running M16B instead provides similar reliable performance at shorter time intervals.

Before proceeding, set the VCCSA voltage to approximately 1.35V and adjust VCCIO to the same value. Increase the DRAM voltage to 1.5V—this setting is often referred to as VDIMM in older ASUS BIOS documentation. These adjustments are safe for your hardware and will help you reach the highest possible frequency. Keep primary timings on auto, gradually raise the clock speed until Windows becomes unresponsive, then perform a quick stability test (target around 4000MT/s). ASUS usually labels this setting as Write Latency according to their manual, which should be one of the secondary timings. Minor tweaks like tCWL have little impact on overall performance compared to factors such as tREFI or tRRDs, but you should still be able to fine-tune it.

They probably took out that part of the memory overclocking guide for LGA 1151 and AM4, which means some details don’t apply to LGA 1700, though it should still work mostly. The TWR setting isn’t really accurate here, and TCWL would fit better for those timing needs.

Checking xmp 2 settings can improve timing stability, but using xmp 1 with auto on is often more reliable.
