Two days prior I assembled a new gaming computer and set up Windows 10. Everyone installed without trouble, but when dealing with graphics card drivers, I encountered difficulties. My setup runs AMD software smoothly, yet it reports installation progress up to 96% before freezing. Then HDMI audio drivers appear, pause briefly at 96%, and the whole process crashes, leaving me with a black screen until I force shutdown. I changed the BIOS switch on my GPU (RX 570 XFX 8GB) and received a warning to change hardware, which I did. After restarting, AMD software confirmed all drivers were updated and games launched normally. However, Far Cry 4 on 1680x1050 runs only 60-70 FPS, significantly lower than expected even for a mid-range system. My concern is whether the drivers are actually installed despite these issues, or if something else—like RAM limitations or another bottleneck—is causing the poor performance. I could try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers via DDU in safe mode, or check RAM usage to rule out memory constraints.
The system is utilizing significant resources, likely due to excessive swapping to the pagefile. Checking the CPU usage during gameplay will help identify performance bottlenecks.
