I’m not able to locate it anywhere in stock. I didn’t need to overclock to avoid extra costs for the unlocked K series version. Why would a lower-tier product charge more than the unlocked higher tier? I assumed the 9600k was discounted, but prices are the same on Newegg.

Do you already own a motherboard at home for this setup? If not, skip the two mentioned CPUs and consider getting a Ryzen 5 3600. If you have an Intel board that supports the 9th generation, then disregard these options and opt for a 9400f. Those costs seem unreasonable for a 6-core processor.

I'm mainly using my PC for gaming, so I'm a bit unsure about choosing AMD even though the R5 3600x looks tempting. I'll have to check some benchmarks comparing Intel and Ryzen for Planetside 2. That's what really gets me going for gaming.

Single-threaded speed looks almost the same across Ryzen 3rd gen models—just a slight edge for some. If Linus had switched, why isn’t it happening?

9600 is completely unnecessary spending. Most people are choosing 3600 instead. The performance is significantly improved. Comparable to an Intel i7.

I’m looking for a more specific answer instead of a standard recommendation. The i5-9600 isn’t available in the U.S., so you might need alternatives like the 9400 or 9600K/KF models.

They might be correct after all. I hadn’t noticed how much Intel had given up at that point. The main perk was the +200 MHz boost and an integrated graphics card. It’s pricier, lacks hyperthreading, and doesn’t offer much else.
