I've observed something that seems a bit worrying. It might be related to the algorithm. With my 7950x3d setup, all my cores are active during Steam games. The game bar is on, and my cores stay idle while playing World of Warcraft. I can't toggle which Steam games are considered. This could be contributing to the problems I'm experiencing. Hello everyone. Everything is brand new. My system specs: 7950x3d, rog x670e-a board, 4090 Msi gaming trio, 32gb cl30 6000, 360 lian li aio, Msi ai1000p psu, 2T 980 pro. It runs in balanced power mode with the game bar enabled. When playing demanding games like Sons of the Forest or Modern Warfare, I often see the warning “do you want to wait for program to respond or force quit,” sometimes before the game even loads, and I have to close the application. I checked the Windows Tools event log and found an error: -The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm isn’t available. It might mean the software that triggers this event isn’t installed or is corrupted on my machine. You can reinstall or fix the affected component locally. If the issue started on another device, make sure the display details were saved with the event. The log included: -Device Video3 Error occurred on GPUID: 100 Games like World of Warcraft work normally even when overclocked (since it’s CPU-heavy). I’ve tested many settings—restoring defaults, rolling back drivers, using command prompt fixes—but nothing resolved it until I reduced the core frequency by about 100MHz on the GPU (around 2750MHz in-game). This seems unusual for a brand new card. Should I consider returning this card? Or is there another explanation? Also, note that I’ve stress-tested my GPU and can handle around +100 MHz overclock and +1500 MHz memory without issues. Your help would be greatly appreciated as I’ve invested a lot of time researching and building my first PC!

Verify the temperatures on your CPU or GPU to ensure it isn't overheating, even though the 4090 appears cooler than the 3090. It's advisable to install Hw info 64 from the provided link. Free download of HWiNFO software is available for Windows and DOS. Run FurMark for both CPU and GPU performance checks. FurMark Downloads can be found at geeks3d.com.

Game stopped. Ask if you wish to wait for the program to finish or terminate immediately.

Conditions are poor. Processing power stays under 82, GPU performance remains in the mid-60s range.

Hello everyone. Here’s the latest setup: 7950x3d, rog x670e-a board, 4090 Msi gaming trio, 32gb cl30 6000, 360 lian li aio, Msi ai1000p psu, 2T 980 pro. Power settings are balanced and the game bar is active. While running demanding titles like Sons of the Forest or Modern Warfare, I often face the frustrating “do you want to wait for program to respond or force quit” situation—sometimes before the game even loads, requiring me to quit it manually. I checked Windows Tools for details but found no matching event for ID 0 from the source nvlddmkm. It seems the component triggering this issue isn’t installed locally or the installation might be corrupted. You may need to reinstall or repair it. If this happened on another machine, ensure the display info was saved with the event.

Additional notes: Games such as World of Warcraft perform well even at overclocked settings, likely due to CPU intensity. I’ve tested various configurations—restored defaults, rolled back drivers, used command prompt fixes—but nothing resolved the problem until I reduced the core frequency by about 100MHz on the GPU (around 2750MHz in-game). My current readings stay under 82°C on the CPU and mid-60s on the GPU. Your guidance is greatly appreciated as I’ve invested a lot into setting this up!

Did you completely remove and then reinstall the Nvidia driver?

I've tested three distinct NVIDIA drivers. One included the latest version aimed at resolving the CPU overheating problem. The same issue persists.
