I promise, there must have been something with the official Windows images. I never had to install SATA drivers for any mainboard with my Windows 10 USB, but after updating the USB to the latest image a few weeks ago, many boards refused to recognize SATA SSDs. Of course, I’m referring to the standard installation method using the Media Creation Tool. My workaround seems unusual, but I created an installer for the UK version and it worked for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Since then, the problem is resolved. I also notice many Reddit discussions about this issue. Can someone clarify what’s happening?
Often encountered with third-party controllers or boards that automatically switch to RAID. The relevance depends on the PC's age, which isn't clear here.
Varies by setup. Many setups use RAID instead of AHCI, making it essential now. Looks like a growing trend in recent years.
