I own a Steelseries Arctis Prime headset with Realtek drivers on a Gigabyte b450m motherboard. The headset microphone isn't visible anywhere on my PC. In the Steelseries GG app, it should appear in the engine section, but it doesn't. I think this is because using headphones instead of showing the name causes the issue. Is there a chance I need a different type of motherboard? Please let me know.

You don’t need a different brand of motherboard.
Restart the GG app you referenced. The version might be outdated, faulty, or damaged.

Other considerations:
The issue could stem from or involve the physical connectors and ports in three ways:
1) Mappings (TS, TRS, TRRS):
https://www.cablechick.com.au/blog/under...dio-jacks/
Summary – the headset’s wiring doesn’t align with your PC’s ports. You may need an adapter or a different adapter if available.
2) Drivers:
The drivers could be incorrect or corrupted. Download them directly from the manufacturer’s site, reinstall, and reconfigure. Avoid third-party tools.
3) Settings:
Windows offers many audio-related settings. Clicking the small speaker icon in the lower-right corner opens a menu with numerous options. Misconfigurations are common. Review these settings carefully.

Check your current configurations; a simple adjustment might resolve the problem.
Use Windows built-in troubleshooters to diagnose and potentially fix the issue.
