Hello! Your next CPU will be the Ryzen 5700x3D, arriving tomorrow. Before placing your order, you only checked BIOS compatibility and the PCIe slot. You already own a PC, so this is just an upgrade—your new RTX 4070 Super and upgraded PSU will also arrive tomorrow. Your main concern is whether the VRM design of this motherboard could cause issues with the 5700x3D. Is that a real problem? And if so, how significant is it? Since you didn’t have the budget for a new motherboard and weren’t aware of these details before, it’s worth double-checking.
I don't need to worry about it. The 5700X3D doesn't consume much power, so any AM4 motherboard should work fine to stop the CPU from throttling. I wouldn't aim for anything faster than it supports, but it should handle the board just fine. In the worst case, you could aim a fan at the VRM and still be okay.
You should face no difficulties with that setup. I configured a system using the mATX model and a 2700x board, and everything has worked perfectly. I also own an MSI B450 Gaming Plus with a 5900x, which is essentially the same board, and it handles heavy loads without significantly increasing VRM temperatures. Even with 105W TDP components, these units perform well.
