I'm preparing to create an opteron build for a YouTube series and wanted to know how well the Opteron 6380 can be overclocked. I also checked the typical temperatures during testing, as I need to ensure it runs smoothly without overheating. If it struggles with overclocking, I’ll stick with Xeons and aim for lower temps.

They handle the load well, yet the Xeons offer better IPC for the same generation. Most of these Opty units run around 70°C, so a cooler setting of 60°C or lower would be ideal.

You're looking at how these same models will outperform the newer ones even after upgrades.

I'm launching a new YouTube series with them since there aren't many videos on opterons.

Whatever actions they take regarding stock voltage, I'd treat it as "safe" when using air cooling. Boosting the frequency raises the temperature, while increasing the voltage adds more power.
