Hi everyone, my friend had a PC that ran smoothly for roughly a year. Recently, he started facing frequent crashes and BSODs. These issues appeared during both light activities and gaming, whether streaming or not. After a clean reinstall of Windows, the problems temporarily stopped but returned soon after.
His system details are:
CPU: Ryzen 5 4600G
GPU: RX 480
RAM: 16GB 3600MHz (DDR4)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H
Power Supply: EVGA 110-BQ-0600-K1 600 BQ
Some typical BSOD error codes he encountered include "DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER", "KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE", and "IRQL_NOT_LESS_NOR_EQUAL".
Please feel free to reach out for more details. We've been working on this for about a month with no clear resolution so far.
BIOS details are useful. Following a complete Windows clean install—meaning no restore or previous image was used, but instead brand new media was created from Microsoft’s site, all drives except the target and installation drive were disconnected, the custom option was selected, existing partitions were deleted, and the system was formatted automatically—did you visit the AMD website to download and install the latest 4600G chipset driver, and then go to the product page for the B550M DS3H to install the newest LAN and audio drivers?
So, first thing I'd do is update the BIOS to the latest version, which, you are MANY versions behind. No need to update to each release, just the latest one.
Then, perform the driver updates as I outlined.
