I just began using the daily-driving setup on an Asrock H170m Pro with an i7-7700K, 4GB RAM (XMP at 2400), and 2x8GB memory (XMP at 2400). No dedicated GPU. Everything works smoothly, runs quickly across all four cores at 4.4 GHz. I experimented with cooling solutions and ran Prime95 to measure heat output, but it showed inaccuracies. I read that newer P95 versions can strain AVX functions, so I looked into alternatives. OCCT gave the best performance with the highest temperatures. This isn’t a high-performance machine—I mainly use it with two 4K monitors for remote work, YouTube, and software like FreeCAD or GIMP. It doesn’t put much stress on the CPU or GPU. However, during extreme tests everything reported GPU errors. I noticed the system says “no errors detected” but lists VRAM issues. Probably because the VRAM is being treated as system memory. I recorded temperatures, RPM, and runtime—after an hour it stayed within normal ranges. CPU max temp: 71°C, GPU: 59°C, PCH: 34°C, RAM: 33°C, fan speed: 1412 RPM. I couldn’t find more specifics on the VRAM problems. Should I be concerned? I think an integrated GPU like Intel 630 is unsuitable for demanding tasks. The error message at the top mentions “no errors detected,” yet it flags VRAM issues. It seems the VRAM is being reported as system memory. I logged several temps and readings, and they all looked normal.
