Hi everyone, I set up a Unraid server using "320 TERABYTES in a normal case!!" – a DIY 4k editing NAS built with a Ryzen 2600 on ROG Strix B450-F. The only variation from the tutorial is using ECC RAM instead of UDIMM. My server isn’t booting, and the onboard LED shows an orange-yellow color. What should I do? Thanks! Wing
The motherboard doesn't accept ECC memory, but you selected it for compatibility or other reasons.
For the processor options, they list AMD Ryzen processors with specific configurations and memory types, emphasizing non-ECC, un-buffered memory setups.
You can find more details on the official ASUS website regarding memory specifications.
Have you explored alternative RAM options to verify functionality? Keep in mind there’s no official backing for ECC or RDIMM on that system, making results inconsistent.
Why did you purchase this item? ECC is typically used for servers. You should use non-ECC memory for that board or opt for a compatible ECC board.
I tested the build with corsair UDIMM. it works like a charm and its super quiet. Linus mentions that Asus ROG Strix B450-F has ECC capability and I see that in the bios as well...DRAM ECC is already enable, I am not sure what's wrong of it?
You're using Registered ECC memory compatible only with EPYC systems. Ryzen offers Unbuffered ECC support.
He mentions you require UDIMM ECC RAM, but what you possess is RDIMM ECC.
