I own a machine that was mostly built for handling cases and cooking tasks with quicker RAM. It came with an i9 12900k and an RTX 3080. My concern is whether the 3080 limits my gaming performance when paired with the 12900k. Should I trade in the 3080 for a 4090 instead? Additionally, I’m using an Odyssey G9 from Samsung, and my graphics cards aren’t delivering the desired performance in certain games that require higher settings. Besides that, I have 64GB of 4000MHz RAM.
You're getting close to the same pixel count as 4K, so boosting the settings and keeping a higher frame rate is possible with a 4090. The 3080 works but in tough games you'll need to lower settings or use upscaling. You might still need a 4090 based on your performance goals.
They complement each other well. You're using one of the more specialized monitors, which is essentially a 4K display. Starting with a 4080 or 7900XTX provides a solid foundation for achieving high-quality 4K settings at over 60 frames per second.
