I evaluated my Ryzen 5 3600 using cinibench r20, achieving a score of 3333—slightly below expectations. However, temperatures were stable at around 95°C with consistent core speeds starting at 3.9GHz and dropping to 3.7GHz by the end. The stock cooler performed adequately, though removing it and reapplying thermal paste didn’t improve things. While the stock cooler isn’t ideal, reaching 95°C is still significantly higher than anticipated.
It's roughly what a 3600 model can achieve—setting the cooler and reapplying thermal paste. Keep an eye on temperatures using hwinfo64 or Ryzen Master, as these are the tools that work best for accurate monitoring.

Suggest trying overclocking or undervolting. Both units in my home are fully stable at 4.2ghz all-core with 1.25V. This configuration runs cooler than the stock PBO and offers better performance. My tower’s stock cooler works fine with MSI Kombuster 12, keeping temps around 85°C even in a room of 20-21°C. For load testing, Kombuster performs similarly to Cinebench but might be slightly lighter. If you’re open to options, boosting case airflow or upgrading the cooler could help. What’s your case and fan setup?
I've already installed the cooler with fresh thermal paste. I'm using Ryzen Master.
Corsair 275r airflow looks promising; Arctic Freezer 34 seems like a solid choice for value.
I started with the first step right away. I prefer more fans running at lower speeds, so if it were me I’d include another fan or three. I’m not sure how effective the standard ones are with that case. A cooler will give you the most noticeable temperature boost.
Thanks for the support. I plan to lower the voltage from 1.4 to around 1.3 and then test it. Eventually, I’ll upgrade to a cooler so I can achieve better speeds and possibly reach 4.2ghz without overheating. If that’s feasible, great!
I run 4.4ghz all core at 1.34V. My wife's is at 4.2ghz all core 1.25V. There is still the lottery, but there's a good chance you can do better than PBO if you have a decent chip and a good Mobo. With ryzen master you can easily test OC profiles, then enter it into bios if you want later. Ryzen Master is very easy to use and allows per core OC as well. Many motherboards can do per core OC now too. You might need to update your bios though.
