Hello, I just moved from an i5-12400 to the newer i5-13600k. It’s experiencing thermal throttling on two cores, which is reducing its Cinebench score compared to the average. I’ve re-applied thermal paste twice to ensure good contact. Could this be related to the cooler not cooling the CPU effectively? Is the cooler suitable for the i5-13600k? The cooler I’m considering is the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO 2 x 120mm. Should I upgrade to something like the Noctua NH-D15? I’m not very experienced with this stuff and would appreciate your advice. Please share any additional details that might help diagnose the issue!
Really, Intel hasn't maintained control over their performance and cooling systems for a long time. Would prefer a more effective cooler.
I’m not very familiar with Intel CPUs or how they respond to undervolting. I understand AMD cores handle it better, but back then Intel didn’t support it well, which is why I’m seeking advice from someone more experienced in that area. Still, pushing a core all the way to its maximum without actually throttling it isn’t ideal.
Hey, your 13600k performed just like before after setting up the system, even with a custom loop. The default options are becoming unstable, so I reduced the Vcore. Everything is now stable—my P-cores run at 5.4 and E-core at 4.4. I can run Cinebench all day without overheating it above 75°C.
It's becoming quite the situation! I assumed something was off, but within moments my core temperature hit 90+ with stable stock. A 360mm of rads works as long as the voltage drops slightly. My cooling system is running smoothly on the Quantum Surface 240 + 120 setup.
