Thermal throttling in the Intel 9900K is common under high temperatures.
I purchased all my components brand new about a year ago and use Intel XTU to undervolt my CPU occasionally. I realized this issue appears while playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Since I’m not familiar with motherboard tweaks, I rely on Intel XTU. It seems this hasn’t happened before. My frame rate stays the same, but my clock speeds drop. Even when I boost processor core ICC max, I still don’t see improvement. Any suggestions from fellow tech enthusiasts?
Turbo Boost Power Max. PL2 refers to Turbo Boost Short Power Max. On a board like the Asus Z390-H, it performs poorly for power-hungry CPUs such as the 9900K or any Intel 14nm 8-core processor. I'm also assisting in reducing the board's performance so you're welcome.
You retrieved PL2 instead of PL1. At full capacity 9900k with stock it generates roughly 170-200 watts under minimal effort.
