Hi, I mistakenly put thermal paste in the socket where the most heat is generated and also on the CPU pins. The PC has been running smoothly for months without any issues. I'm worried I might damage something if I try to remove it. Do I really need to clean it?

It should work then. Standard thermal paste doesn't conduct electricity. Proceed carefully—especially since it functions properly as designed. You might try a compressed drinking straw to remove some paste, followed by alcohol and a gentle toothbrush to wipe away any remaining debris from the CPU. However, the chance of damaging the CPU makes this risky. Avoid transferring it to another motherboard without thorough cleaning first; otherwise you could spread the residue.

Thanks, I noticed the Linus video but it was about Intel. For the AM4, the socket is different. Let me clarify that.

For that area, you can simply remove it using a sheet of cardboard or an old gift card. Be careful not to force thermal compound into the gaps.

You're considering adding a radiator to your Corsair Alpha case. It's worth noting that a 240mm radiator might be challenging depending on the case design. Since your PC is from 2016, you likely don't need a completely new setup. Sticking with your current case seems a practical choice.
