When I was taking out my CPU cooler, I turned it the wrong way, which caused me to pull the CPU along with it. The thermal paste ended up covering all the pins and the CPU socket. I plan to add a picture when I get home. What would you think about fixing this and cleaning it up? There isn’t a lot of thermal paste left, just a small amount on about 5 pins at the edge.

We need to understand the full scope of the issue. Upload your images to a platform similar to Imgur and share the link with us. What kind of processor are you using?

It doesn't matter if it's in the socket, since only a small part was inserted.

I'll add pictures when I get home from school. From what I've seen online, it isn't as bad as those. And when I put it into the socket earlier, it wouldn't fit unless I pushed it down a bit, and when I checked, there were no bent pins at all.

It seems to be mostly located on the sides.

When I was taking out my CPU cooler, I turned it the wrong way, which caused the cooler to pull the CPU along with it. The thermal paste ended up everywhere on the pins and the CPU socket. I plan to add a picture when I get home. What would you suggest for fixing this and cleaning it up? There isn’t a lot of thermal paste left, just about five on the edge.
