Your Asus FX504GE has been running hot for a while, and you've already reached out to the support team without getting a resolution. Since you're not comfortable adjusting settings or overclocking, here are some steps you can try: consider letting it cool down naturally, check if the cooling fans are working properly, and see if any background processes are using too much power. If the issue persists, contacting Asus support again with detailed information might help.

Wipe down the laptop and install Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste. This should resolve the overheating issue. Limiting power isn't an option since the system would overload under normal conditions.

Initially what testing method are you employing? Above all, ensure your laptop is dusted and cleaned thoroughly.

the laptop keeps getting hot even when idle, only during regular tasks and sometimes while playing games.

Adjust the thermal paste according to recommendations, similar to what @5x5 suggested.

I switched to the thermal paste from Cooler Master because the recommended option wasn't in stock when I replaced it.

Remove any dust buildup from the laptop. For general maintenance, clean the vents and other components. Just a quick tidy up!
