Previous games now experience huge FPS drops to just 20 frames per second, whereas they were smooth above 60 FPS before. I looked at the CPU usage and it started around 30%, then dropped to 10% or less. The GPU is working fine. Is there any way to resolve this issue?
I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers using ddu and scanned for viruses.
System details:
- MSI GE66 Raider 11UH (LAPTOP)
- Windows 11
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 16 GB

- Intel 11th Gen Core i7-11800H processor

Normal yes, but if it becomes too warm then it should slow down to avoid damage. Letting it open and cleaning the heatsinks and fans can assist. If the CPU temperatures exceed 65°C, or if the GPU gets hotter than 80°C I would take action.
It's a laptop, so I'd look into whether it's experiencing thermal throttling on the CPU or GPU. If the image shows high load, it's likely fine. At least for the CPU.
