I'm trying to identify the source of a peculiar issue that's starting to frustrate me.
While sitting at my desk, occasionally when I'm idle and just enjoying my coffee, Windows Explorer will suddenly appear, always pointing to one of my temporary folders (like Z that I use for old phone data, etc.). These files aren't important.
I'm wondering how I can figure out what's behind this behavior.
Thanks.

Review Task Manager under Startup to identify unfamiliar or unrecognized programs launching at boot and operating in the background.
Examine Task Scheduler for any scheduled tasks that activate after a period of inactivity, or those you don’t understand.
Investigate Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer.
One or both systems might record error codes, warnings, or informational messages just before or when Windows Explorer appears.
If feasible, capture two screenshots of the Explorer window that appear.
Share them here via imgur (www.imgur.com > green "New post" icon). Please remove any personal details if present.

Task Manager shows normal startup entries, but the Scheduler struggles with lengthy processing. Initially it appears fine, yet many items display "multiple triggers." A screenshot of Explorer reveals almost nothing beyond the folder listing for Old Windows (Z). The Event Viewer near AROUND the time this occurred lists a long sequence of Windows Error Reporting events (ID 1001, Category NONE), around 30 entries in quick succession, separated only by references to Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational.

Don't need to access the registry or services GUI. Save your files and data first, then proceed.
