Hello there! Two years back I upgraded my computer. I switched from an i5 2500 to an i5 8600, used an ASUS B360-G motherboard and a Bequiet CPU cooler. Right away I noticed my old processor ran much faster. The extra cores didn’t really help much. I started seeing occasional stutters, freezes, and performance drops. For instance, when compiling code like TypeScript, the cursor would jump around. My old system never had these problems. Also, Fusion360 sometimes froze or crashed, even though I was just building small enclosures for my own projects. Sure, there’s a boost for tasks like archiving or heavy calculations, but the overall slowness was really annoying. Short summary: worth it to upgrade the CPU while keeping the rest of the setup? My current setup is: CPU i5 8600 (not overclocked), ASUS B360-G motherboard, Bequiet cooler, Kingston DDR4 8GB, MSI GTX1060 6GB, PSU Seasonic S12G-650, and a 180GB SSD for OS. TIA
This was installed on a brand new Windows system or the previous version from the time you used the 2500?
I didn’t perform a complete reset, but I was using Windows 8.1 that had been adjusting settings while the new hardware was added. I thought that would be sufficient because it was working fine. Of course, a full setup after a clean install usually requires a weekend. Since I work remotely and this machine is my main computer, I don’t want any unexpected issues disrupting my workflow.
Yeah, it's like a spike of 100% usage at this time. I have also did a scan with malwarebytes and it's all clean.
