There is an issue booting from the SSD, and there is no signal to monitor.
Hello. My hardware is:
Mobo: Asrock Fatality H170
RAM: 4x4 DDR4 Kingston 2133mhz
CPU: Intel i5-6600
PSU: Thermaltake Smart 530w.
Motherboard, CPU and RAM were bought secondhand, the rest is from my own working configuration.
I connected my old ssd drive with already installed Windows 10 pro. Seems it's not recognized as bootable anymore. When trying boot from it, I'm seeing: reboot and select proper boot device message. Tried hirens boot and windows 10 usb drives and the system is able to boot from them. I want to use the windows version on my ssd, so tried system restore, using the command prompt and type the commands from the picture below.
I don't know if I fix it or not because of the second problem - my monitor shows no signal message most of the time. Usually, i turn the pc on, seeing bios logo and navigation keys, then they disappear and the monitor shows no signal message. Unplug and plug hdmi cable doesn't help. Replaced the cable, still nothing. The issues is reproducible with both integrated and external gpu. I'm able to enter the bios, change something but when exit, no signal message is displayed. Any ideas how to solve this? The pc may boot correctly after startup repair but cannot see with this no signal problem. The monitor is working fine when enter in hirens boot live os or in windows installation drive
This typically occurs when using Windows on another system because there are no drivers available for the new version. Make sure to verify if the BIOS is set to CSM/Legacy mode or UEFI and adjust accordingly.
Yes, I don't have drivers installed. I'll check the BIOS settings. What should I do next—USB with MBR restore, USB with HIREN boot, try to install drivers, or a full Windows install? Also, based on the information you gave, do you think the motherboard is functioning properly?
Restoring only the BOOT feature doesn't guarantee it will function or launch Windows long enough to modify drivers. Drivers can't be installed unless Windows is active. It's likely you'll need to reinstall the entire operating system.
The system indicates your disk type is GPT, which should correspond to an MBR, not a partition manager.
I don't see a way to adjust the bios settings from cms/legacy. I attempted a fresh installation and it resolved the problem, but I still couldn't connect all my HDDs and case connectors. Perhaps you can't simply replace an HDD with the OS on another system, or maybe one of the partitions was restricted by BitLocker. Who knows.
After a few days of use, occasionally after turning on the device I still see a no signal message on the screen. It needs to restart several times or the HDMI cable should be unplugged a few times to see the picture clearly. The red BIOS light on the motherboard, which signals an issue, is no longer staying on consistently. Next week I plan to purchase a new HDMI cable. Does this suggest a problem with the cable?
