There is a sporadic problem with the laptop keyboard.
Hi,
The laptop model in question is the MSI Dominator Pro GT72VR 6RE.
There’s an ongoing problem with the keyboard: the "O" and "1" keys intermittently stop working, then return to function after a few presses before becoming unresponsive again. This behavior isn’t due to software glitches—Windows reinstalls and different MSI Dragon Center versions haven’t resolved it.
It appears to be a hardware issue, possibly affecting the flex cables or internal components. Before deciding on replacement, it might be worth trying basic troubleshooting steps such as opening the laptop and checking the flex cables or disassembling the keyboard for inspection. If you’re comfortable with that process, sharing your approach could help avoid unnecessary damage.
Looking ahead, I plan to upgrade my machine soon and consider selling this one. The keyboard problem does reduce its resale value, but it still serves its purpose for daily office tasks—though occasional failures can be bothersome. If you find no viable fix, replacing the keyboard before selling seems more practical than attempting repairs.
Attempt to eliminate dirt or particles blocking the keys. Connect an external keyboard and verify if the problem persists. If it continues, the problem likely lies in the operating system or drivers. If the issue remains unresolved with the external keyboard, replace the keyboard.
