I'm S2 and secured a win streak of seven games without any rank changes.
The ranking system aims to match you with players who play like you. Just because you're silver after a few wins doesn't mean you stay that way. If you consistently win every game against frag, you'll become a nova quickly. Stop complaining—every discussion about cs go ranks has plenty of silvers arguing the system is flawed, but it's not broken; it's just that you're not the worst. I'm a bit frustrated.
It's not about the game itself, it's about how people react when they don't rank high. They seem focused more on proving superiority than improving. It's similar to how some DMG players aim for LE, but only those who claim better than their level complain. It feels a lot like Silver players—performance isn't the only factor. The system rewards top performers, big wins, and strong team play, which boost your ELO. You might have been near Silver 3 in the rankings. For those who think they're better than their rank, just check out this game footage. It's frustrating to see so many such comments from Silver players. But I started as a Nova 2, so I avoided that issue. Anyway, MM is tough, ESEA is great, and ESEA means everything.
It's odd how folks keep saying rankings are all about luck, not skill.
Truly, the essential factors are MVP's and securing round wins. As mentioned here, http://steamcommunity.com//sharedfiles/f...=312582297, it seems Valve indicated this during the introduction of competitive mode.
Check out the discussion around the ranking system—some are questioning whether MVP and win metrics truly hold value.
