I recently lent out my library to a friend. He enjoyed playing Batman Arkham Origins and Naruto. After purchasing Injustice, he downloaded it too. Once completed, the play button switched instantly to "BUY."

Not every game can be shared, so your friend may need to purchase one. In my Steam collection, around 10 titles are restricted from sharing via Family Sharing.

However, games that aren't shareable don't appear in the buddy's library. Were you already logged into your library? Since then, the shared buddy sees the Buy option instead of Play. Only one person may access a library at a time. Or did you purchase the game recently during the free weekend? Then he downloaded it over the weekend and after finishing, the play button automatically changed to purchase.

I understand certain games can't be shared. My FarCry 3 wasn't part of the library, but my main point is that before I could enjoy all the games, I just got Injustice (from Steam sale) and after that, the controls switched to "Buy."

He downloaded the game during the free weekend. If so, it wasn't from your shared library but directly via Steam. Once the weekend ended, he switched back to purchasing. Ultimately, Injustice may not be a game meant for sharing.

Weekend availability? Injustice wasn't offered at no cost when you bought or downloaded it. You can share it because it shows up in the shared library—games such as my FC3 and other Ubisoft titles aren't listed there.
