Hi,

I have the following configuration:

Processor: i7 10700K
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z490F
Storage: Adata Spectrix S40G 500 GB SSD
GPU: MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 2070 Super
RAM: Adata D80 8x2 16GB (3200 Mhz)
Cooler: NZXT Kraken X73 - 360mm
Power Supply: Corsair RM750
Case: Coolermaster MB511 RGB
Image link: https://ibb.co/tLx26pb
PC picture: https://ibb.co/92D7qj0

I installed three exhaust fans (already included in the case), two more at the top of the cabinet and one at the back for better airflow. My friend assembled and overclocked it to 4.7 GHz for me. I’m a beginner, so this is new territory. I’ve been using this system for about 17 days and have played some games.

Recently, while playing CSGO, my FPS dropped drastically from 450 to 25. After checking, I found that my CPU clock was stuck at 800 MHz across all cores. I cleared the CMOS, updated the BIOS, and even tried the default settings because I thought it might be overheating. My CPU’s idle temperature is 47°C, but it never goes above 69°C during load. I’m unsure what’s causing this issue.

When trying to access BIOS, I encountered a warning: “Thermistor cable must be connected with t sensor connector.”
My question is: how can I reset it back to the default Intel clock? My CPU is currently running at 4.7 GHz. I’d like to return to the original settings and restart the PC as if it were a brand new build, without any overclocking. Could you help me resolve this? If you didn’t understand my problem, feel free to explain in detail.

PS - I downloaded ThrottleStop_9.2 and unchecked “BD PROCHOT.” After that, I didn’t see any FPS drops in games, but the fans were making a lot of noise. I’m worried about what’s happening with my system. I also visited an ASUS service center today, and they confirmed there’s no issue from their side. They mentioned overclocking isn’t an issue, just that I need performance without any overclocks.

Thank you.

When you reset your BIOS settings, it probably also resets the fan profiles. You can adjust the fan settings in BIOS to prevent them from running too loud during games. It shouldn't be that hard.

I can handle fan noise, it's fine. Could you provide a solution to revert the overclock or reset the system to the default 3.8 clock? That would be very useful.

Simplify your experience by restoring the system to default settings with a BIOS reset.
