It's understandable. Keep in mind that the 1-1.5V isn't coming directly from the power supply unit, but instead from a voltage regulator located on the mainboard.

it's been a while, but i spent a lot of time in the event viewer. everything was pointing toward PSU, kernel event 41 or something. so i borrowed a friend's 1000w psu and haven't had a crash since. i think 1000 is overkill but definitely changed things for me. thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
