Hi all,
I'm experiencing some unusual sound problems that might be connected to my CPU. There are instances of glitches, such as a 'peaking' or tearing noise during sound recording. This seems to happen when the CPU is under heavy load, as indicated by the task manager. Interestingly, the issue also occurs when using an external audio interface (Steinberg UR22C), and it's much more pronounced in both cases, affecting the speakers and headphones.
The background is that I recently had to replace my water cooler, which caused the CPU to overheat multiple times before I identified the problem. The CPU model is an Intel 7700k, bought in a prebuilt system in 2017. It had several auto resets and BSODs before I realized the cooler was the culprit. After replacing it, the CPU temperatures stayed below 90°C. It's possible this is due to wear and tear from that overheating. Now with the new cooler, everything seems normal.
It's quite puzzling to have this issue regardless of the sound source. What are your thoughts?

Is there any wear and tear from that? I’ve installed a new cooler and it’s functioning fine otherwise.
If the system shut down at those temperatures, then the processor was likely protecting itself. Prolonged exposure to those temps might have damaged it. I’m considering the drivers or OS corruption as possible causes.
