Storage: Sandisk Plus 120GB (old boot drive in MBR)
Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD (attempting as new boot drive in GPT)

Game issues:
Crashing frequently during gameplay – main monitor freezes, both go black.
Error messages appear stating a crash occurred.
Games affected: Minecraft, Fortnite, Deep Rock Galactic, No Man's Sky (crash time varies).
No consistent pattern; crashes seem random.

Symptoms observed:
- GPU temperature around 65°C under load
- Power consumption near 85W during gaming
- Default Radeon settings applied
- Fixes tried:
- Uninstall and reinstall drivers via DDU
- Use driver 23.4.1
- Disable Multiplane Overlay in Radeon software
- Re-install Windows
- Update to driver 23.4.2 (no improvement)
- Paused Windows updates
- Removed MSI Afterburner and HWInfo64
- Still experiencing instability; need further assistance.
I would consider switching to another operating system entirely, rather than just changing drivers. Have you used the ones mentioned previously?
These problems started after installing the Samsung 980 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD. There were two driver updates that week plus two Windows updates. I went back to the three previous drivers, but they added more issues that I eventually resolved. The black screens still persisted. I tested versions like 23.4.2, 23.4.1, 23.3.2, 23.3.1, and 23.2.2, always using DDU with each change.
Oh yeah i've tried that. I ran my pc without it and went back to my old ssd, kept it as a back up, and yet the crashes still happened. The nvme was not plugged in. I even installed a fresh windows on the new ssd only and installed some games to test, still crashed. other drives were not plugged in

Not the CPU since I haven't really handled it. The GPU had its PCIe lanes swapped but didn't work. I put it back in the original PCI lane and double-checked it was installed. I changed power and SATA cables, confirmed the HDMI and RAM were connected, ran MemTest86 and everything passed.
