I use SyncToy version 2.1 and find it very straightforward. I really enjoy it. I'm using Windows 8.1, but if you're on the same version too, you might want to try SkyDrive—now known as OneDrive. I personally prefer not using cloud services, but you could give it a shot and find out if it suits you.

If you don't need to save the programs, the built-in migration tool will handle it.
