Hi,
I purchased this Asus Zephyrus G14 laptop and am encountering issues during installation or uninstallation, such as errors when accessing run/temp, opening Windows Defender, etc. It appears I don’t have proper access to the device. This laptop was intended for display purposes, possibly with limited access controls in place.

Are you sure your user account is an Administrator? You may require admin rights to perform these tasks, so ensure your account has that permission.

Hi,
I noticed the ADMINISTRATOR tag on my profile.
I can’t attach images here; I’m receiving an error message.
I’m trying to install Chrome and it’s reporting a Windows Installer issue—something about a program failing to run. Then I keep seeing Windows Defender alerts, but clicking it shows “Page not available.” My IT admin has limited access to parts of this app, so the item isn’t accessible. They suggested contacting the helpdesk.
I also tried running a temporary version and got a permission error: “You don't currently have permission to access this folder.”

As this is a new laptop, I recommend you perform a full, clean installation of Windows and your desired apps. Should clear up this issue and remove a bunch of bloatware.

Once you reinstall, you should still receive the advantages of the free Microsoft services that were given to you.

I suggest performing a factory reset instead of a complete reinstall. This can be done by navigating to Settings -> System -> Recovery -> Reset this PC. You may also try a cloud-based recovery option:

A reset will remove all the extra software from Asus. It remains a practical choice.
