Hello there!
This is my first time on Reddit, so please forgive any mistakes if I don’t share everything correctly or include all the details. If I’m posting somewhere incorrect, just let me know how to fix it.

I’ve been facing some annoying performance problems with my new PC. The main components are:
- GPU: Palit RTX3070
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X
- Storage: Samsung SSD
- Monitor: 144Hz, 2k
- Operating System: Windows 10

I’ve seen a lot of performance drops on FarCry 5, for instance. At the lowest settings and 2k resolution, I’m getting between 45 and 70 frames per second. I’ve tried all the tips I could find online, but nothing seems to work. Other games that run smoothly at 2k with ultra graphics cap at 144fps without any issues. The cooling system is fine, and I’m pretty sure I’m not hitting a CPU bottleneck, since it’s a new Ryzen 5 3600X and FarCry 5 is already quite old.

In most games, my performance is solid. Here are some examples of 2k resolution at ultra settings:
- Overwatch – 144fps
- Apex Legends – 120–144fps
- RDR2 – 60–70fps
- Battlefield 5 – 110–140fps
- Doom Eternal – 144fps (up to 300fps unblocked)
- Cyberpunk 2077 – 70–90fps (RTX off)

The games that have been struggling the most are:
- FarCry 5 (45–70fps)
- Kingdom Come Deliverance (40–65fps)
- Assassin's Creed Odyssey (40–70fps)

So far, I’ve done the following:
- Restarted and reinstalled Windows
- Updated all game drivers
- Set NVIDIA Graphics to prioritize performance
- Adjusted affinity settings in Task Manager for games
- Switched power management to high-performance mode

If you can help identify what’s causing the issue, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time!

Perhaps testing another RTX 3070 from your friend could help, just to confirm the issue isn't with their hardware. It might work fine for other games as well. Try it and see.

It's a software issue, not a hardware limitation, and people are maintaining 90fps even at 1080p. The game is CPU-intensive but doesn't cause bottlenecks at that resolution. At 1440p it should work smoothly without any issues. Just observe other performance problems and modify the game files. For your reference, benchmarks show no difference in performance between 3600x and 5600x at 1440p.

I'm not entirely clear on the problem.
I ran another test for those who might need more details.
Red Dead Redemption 2, 2K Ultra:
Lowest FPS: 8 FPS
Average FPS: 59
Maximum FPS: 85
But others are consistently getting at least 20 more FPS than me (on the same setup). I have no idea what to do.
