There are only a few PCs that can handle Minecraft at 60 frames per second.

I just reinstalled Minecraft again... everything seems set up and installed on other drives. Still, when I push the settings to full, I can’t maintain 60 frames per second. It usually drops to around 50 FPS but sometimes falls below 30 for a few seconds. The CPU is near 20% and the GPU around 40%. This doesn’t make sense since there’s plenty of room. Why isn’t Minecraft using its full potential? What adjustments need to be made? Where should I change them and how? It seems normal settings aren’t working. I’m running 4K at max graphics, 32 chunks, with a powerful machine—yet performance is so poor.
Minecraft isn't designed for modern systems, often needing fewer, quicker processors instead of multiple cores where each might lag. Windows 10 seems better optimized since it uses C++ (or similar languages) compared to the Java version. For clarity, in early 2016 a friend built a powerful setup with an i7-6700K, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 1070, yet Minecraft still struggled even with just a few quality-of-life mods.
Check for installed mods. Have you attempted to load a custom world, or are we discussing a brand-new one? Which Java version or Windows 10 version are you using?
aligns with expectations in theory, yet I still feel something’s off. My old machine was an i7 4790k with 4.8GHz, 32GB DDR3 at 19MHz, and an 8GB RX580 card—it handled 60fps 4K without any problems. This new setup outperforms it in every aspect, including single-core speed. It doesn’t make sense, right? Could it be the Java Edition not functioning properly on the newer hardware? This is really frustrating. Minecraft is my go-to game when I want to pass the time while listening to podcasts or music.
Java version just released with new world features and larger biomes. Everything is fresh and brand new. I didn’t save my previous worlds, so I’ve lost thousands of hours—really sad, but that’s the way it is. No point worrying about lost progress. Lol!
Ugh, I was counting on hearing about the Win10 version for testing. The Java edition was last seen about four years ago. Even Minecraft looks pretty shaky right now, but at least it's still running around 60 FPS. Honestly, I'm not sure what's happening. Apart from the usual "reinstall everything," I can't help with much. Sorry!
I don’t have a specific PC, but I can guide you through the process of installing Windows on a new computer. Let me know if you’d like step-by-step instructions!
It's true that Java isn't perfect, but it's not the only option. When I first bought it, I didn't realize there were different versions until they asked which one I wanted. I just picked Java. From what I've heard, Windows 10 is considered the best, followed by Java, then Bedrock, and other builds for various platforms. Thanks for your help!
I used a dedicated flash drive for this setup. A brand-new installation was done, and I purchased a fresh license. It’s Win 10 Pro with everything completely updated. The only items I retained from my previous computer were my accounts and the essential media drive.
Did the HDD get unplugged during Windows installation? Was the newest GPU driver set via GeForce Experience? Have you attempted to add Java yourself from this site (including all three installers) https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?
