I realize I missed that game entirely. I haven’t played it, so I’ll look into it. It’s odd that the pre-order bonus DLC for Thief was a remake of an old Metal Age mission. I haven’t completed that quest yet, but I’m curious about how it feels. Probably depends on what you’re hoping for. I didn’t enjoy Deadly Shadows much; my reaction matches what I see in Mafia II, Alan Wake, and to some degree Bioshock—my expectations fell short there. Now I just want a game that offers something more engaging than a standard FPS and doesn’t fall flat. :0/ Edit: I must admit I think Styx: Master of Shadows has taken the medieval stealth title from Garret’s awkwardly shaped character, though Thief: Master Thief Edition is only a 5.75 rating on Steam this weekend and Stix is worth about 25 pounds. :0/
I purchased Thief on the same day and began using it multiple times... haven't played it yet. Attempted to fix the mantle settings, everything seems to function properly. Crossfire consistently provides around 2 FPS, so I'm holding off until I resolve the issue.
I've been playing it today and I'm really enjoying the experience. The new Garret doesn't appeal to me much, and the story feels very thin—it's almost missing what made Metal Age stand out. Still, I don’t think it’s a poor game. Thief hasn’t always been a big name in mainstream PC gaming, but for a niche title, it seems solid. I struggled to immerse myself in Deadly Shadows, though this one is much more engaging. It’s possible it could improve significantly, but as it stands, it’s acceptable. My expectations were lowered by the reviews, which helped me appreciate it more. I’ve always felt there might be a connection between Thief and Deus EX, possibly stemming from a shared design concept, giving each title only about two-thirds of its potential.
