Hello, I began investigating memory issues because I've been experiencing frequent game crashes that I'm not familiar with. That said, these are newer titles.
For example, Battlefield 6 crashes to desktop, which is common when searching online and checking Reddit.
Marvel Rivals & Oblivion Remastered is causing UE5 engine errors with confusing logs. I've already submitted a report to the developers (Unreal Engine).
I haven’t encountered the blue/black screen of death. I’ve executed sfc /scannow and all system checks, updated BIOS, Windows 11, and AMD drivers.
These crashes aren’t related to AMD driver problems—they state there was an actual crash, my settings reset afterward, which doesn’t happen here.

Corsair RAM, DDR5 CL40 4800 MHz (XMP = 5200) – this should perform well as the motherboard claims support for 6200.

I ran Memtest86 for the first time. Three errors were found, occurring in the final fourth run. I suspect it might be a random occurrence. I repeated the test the next day and all four passes were clean. It was using XMP, which was the first time it failed. Later, I used Memtest64 (by TechPower Up) on Windows, which also completed without errors after ten cycles. Finally, I performed another Memtest86 at night to confirm, and all four runs passed with zero issues.
This RMA from Corsair I contacted via email, suggesting it could be a fluke and advising me to wait before deciding.
Today I experienced another UE5 crash while playing Marvel Rivals, which brought me back to desktop. With some free time, I considered running another memory test—two more Memtest86 runs, one with a single error each. Usually, around the seventh run, errors appear in the second or third attempt.
I’m now uncertain. Could bad hardware occasionally trigger crashes without any changes to settings or parameters? Should I consider returning the RAM? Is this a multicore false alarm? Should I run a single-core test tonight? Are these crashes random and engine-related?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I can't directly show screenshots or access external links like imgur.com. However, you can search for "CPU-Z memory and spd" images online to find the relevant visuals.
Yes, I don't push my games to their limits. For instance, I rarely enable Ray Tracing and usually stick to a High preset compared to Ultra. On rivals, I use FSR 4 with Quality enabled. My frame rates on BF are around 140-160 FPS, and on Rivals I cap at 180 (my monitor is 1440p at 180Hz). Temperatures are good and the room stays cool.
You'll need to check each RAM module and slot individually to ensure consistent results. Consider testing under warm conditions, such as after gaming. Also, evaluate performance with and without XMP settings. It seems replacing the memory might be necessary based on Geofelt's advice.
