There are irregular power cuts happening on my computer.
Hello there, everyone! I've been working on this issue alone for a while now, and I feel it's time to get some expert help. Here’s my problem: My PC occasionally crashes while running. System: Ryzen 5800x (no overclock), Gigabyte UD x570 Rev1.0, 2 x 16GB XPG DDR4 at 3200MHz, Zotak GTX 3060 (no overclock), 1 x NVMe M.2 SSD for booting, 2 x SATA SSDs of various sizes (details to share later), and 1 x SATA HDD (1TB Corsair CV650). Power supply: new PSU. Symptoms: About a month ago, I noticed my computer would power on, let me log in to the OS (dual boot with Windows 10 & OpenSUSE), and stay online for about two minutes—enough time for Steam or OneDrive notifications—to suddenly crash. I’m not very familiar with Windows error logs, but the Linux logs didn’t point to a driver or software issue. So I started replacing parts that still worked well, hoping to find the culprit at home. I could eliminate CPU, RAM, GPU, and SATA drives using my spare components. But without an NVMe M.2 or a replacement PSU, I had to take the PC to a shop. They fixed the PSU (it was under warranty) and swapped the boot drive. The same happened with the HDD. After bringing it back, I ran some videos for a few hours on a loop—no problems. Game (Sniper Elite 5, mid settings) for 2-3 hours gave me one UPS alert, but nothing serious. No other issues for a week or so. Then yesterday, I inserted a portable USB HDD to check for old files. After the PC was reinstalled and drivers updated, it tried to scan my HDD for viruses using a third-party antivirus (not Windows Defender). It seemed fine, so I thought everything was okay. Later, I noticed my UPS was completely drained and flashing a red light. It had been plugged in all day. What I suspect is that the old UPS is the problem. Since power issues are common in my region, voltage fluctuations aren’t rare. The UPS I have is rated at 600VA/360W, and I was hoping it could provide 5-10 minutes of backup so I could save work or shut down safely.
What should I look for when buying a new UPS? How do wattage calculations connect to the components and PSU? Also, are there other factors I might be missing?
P.S.: I really appreciate any useful tips, details, links, or technical insights you can share!
