Hello, I'm trying to understand why every shader-building game keeps crashing on my system. It frequently reports insufficient Virtual Memory Allocated, sometimes without any error messages and just stopping abruptly.
My setup includes:
- Windows 11
- Gigabyte z790 Aurus Elite AX Motherboard
- 32GB DDR5 RAM
- WD 850x Black SSD M.2 4TB (with a previous 750W Black 1TB drive)
- i9-13900k processor
- Power supply upgraded from 750W to 850W for the 4070 TI (maybe wiring was off)
I've tried reinstalling Windows 11 after a full reset, changing the pagefile size, updating Steam/GOG, tweaking GeForce Experience settings, and even swapping the GPU from my 4070 TI back to the 2080 TI. Still nothing changes.
Checking via Steam or GOG didn't reveal any differences.
I've also updated drivers, BIOS, firmware, and OS versions, but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
My main concern is that I'm still using the latest GPU driver and Windows updates, yet the problem persists.
Could it be related to the operating system or a specific game? I'm not sure what else to try.
The 850x shows 1.8 TB used from a total 4 TB, while the 750 is empty. I'm uncertain about the virtual memory settings, probably set to a default I haven't adjusted since I don't know its location.
I'm not completely confident about this, but I believe it might be related to the load times. I also notice the CPU usage hits 100% during game loading, then drops to around 90% afterward (around 20%). Curious if that high usage is causing crashes during loading.
Shader compilation typically pushes the CPU to its maximum capacity, which isn't necessarily an issue.

I currently have a standard water cooling setup for my CPU. The temperatures during gaming sessions are typically between 90-100°C, while the packaging stays around 3-5°C. I use iCue from Corsair to monitor these temps.
The error message doesn’t provide any code or title—it simply says “Out of Video Memory trying to allocate a texture! Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting…”.
I’ve tried GeForce Experience to adjust settings, but it still shows this error even at low resolutions like 3440x1440 when using lower settings.
The CPU temperatures appear elevated compared to typical gaming levels, though it might not be the main cause of your problems. It would be better to check them separately since they should only rise during maximum CPU usage.

Occasionally certain games cause my PC to restart (Dead Space Remake and Monster Hunter Rising), while others work smoothly in compatibility mode. Some function perfectly without changes. I'm considering installing Windows 10 on my older 750 SSD to check if that resolves the issue.
