Poor battery performance, unexpected disconnections, completely unsatisfactory. I replaced my Series controller with an 8BitDO Ultimate and have never regretted it.

Absolutely, I understand your point. The DS4 really lacks a solid design, and after six months or a year, the plug often fails. In contrast, my Xbox 360 controller with a fixed USB cord still functions well after about fifteen years—though it’s not ideal for PC use. Personally, I prefer the DS4, but it does limit my ability to play certain games on my PC. Thanks for sharing this info! It’s also worth noting how challenging it can be to replace the plug.

The micro USB adapter for the DS4 is built on a different board. No soldering required. You’ll need to work with screws or clips to access the controller. For detailed guidance, check the IFixit in-depth blog or video on Tindie. If you’re new to ZIF connectors, it can seem challenging. With the proper tools, it’s manageable—similar to swapping a screen on a phone.

It seems your device lists as CUH-ZCT-2E. That’s a specific model—checking the manufacturer’s website or support page will give you the exact controller type details.

Take a look inside the controller to examine the motherboard.

Sure, that makes sense. It’s not something I’m using right now—just playing Overwatch with the Xbox controller. I’ll probably check out some guides to take it apart later. I remember doing it before with another DS4 and thought a part from the shoulder triggers might have come off without reason.
