I connected my wired Xbox 360 controller to Windows and the machine stopped working. This wasn’t an issue before installing a new graphics card, but now I’m certain I have more power than required for my GTX 780. After removing all other USB-powered devices, only the Xbox 360 controller plugged in, yet the computer still shut down. My system specs are: PSU 700W, GPU nVidia GeForce GTX 780 (not overclocked), CPU Intel i5 2500 (not overclocked). The devices I use include a keyboard, mouse, headphones, and a USB-powered speaker. Please let me know if you need further information.

PCs avoid Xbox because they dislike them, which causes the shutdown.

Have you explored the PS2? Consider using a different USB connection such as front panel versus MBOO. Install the necessary drivers first. Think about testing alternative GPU drivers.

Connecting your controller before powering on can cause issues such as loss of input signals or unexpected behavior during setup.

Your device is encouraging you to use actual gaming equipment: mouse and keyboard. It understands the note. P.S.: controllers are excellent, but I’m not sure how to assist you in this case.

I'm going to attempt to update or reinstall my Xbox controller drivers. I've tested all USB ports so far, but nothing seems to work. I don't own a PS2 controller and have the newest GPU driver installed. Unfortunately, it didn't function properly this time, and my computer crashed again.

You haven't found a solution yet. It might help to know your headset consumes the same power as your Xbox 360 controller, yet you can still use it. Even swapping it out for the Xbox controller causes a surge. I really need assistance with this issue because it's been ongoing, and as a PC gamer I want to play FIFA 15 on my PC (my PS3 doesn't support 30fps). The controls are poor, so fixing this would be great.
