you received your inno3d ichiill x3 rtx 3070 and wanted to set it up on your tuf x570. soon realized a part of the backplate touches the chipset cooler, making full insertion impossible. you reached out to asus support thinking about potential compatibility issues with both the card and motherboard. they confirmed the problem but didn’t provide a solution. the inno3d team replied politely, asking for a photo and not giving further details since you had a week before returning the 3070. because of the price difference and time constraints, you’re considering returning it or upgrading to a b550 board. you sold your tuf x570 and bought a b550, which fits the GPU but not the motherboard. now you’re stuck—either wait for a replacement or risk buying another motherboard. it’s been a frustrating experience getting this kind of product.
Hmmmm Also Why cant you just get a GPU raiser cable and mount the GPU somewhere else, worst case using good old cableties? Considering the currently horrible supply I would check if there is any silicon under it looks like there is non. And just go for it and cut or file away that small piece of GPU.... Also a new MOBO would be a lot simpler to get and easier to get.
It looks like the GPU is likely the issue, not the motherboard. All boards probably need some kind of chipset cooling. A new board might not solve it.
a vertical stand requires seven slots, but I need at least one for my wifi card because I can't run ethernet. I might save parts of the backplate and cooler base, but I'd rather get a new motherboard since I can't verify if the graphics card works. Selling my motherboard on eBay for 100 euros could let me buy a Stratix B550 for 160 euros, which would be cheaper than a good vertical mount.
If your project is large enough, you might be able to insert a nut into the screw holes on the back plate and simply lift it out, using a raiser cable instead. Alternatively, you could use a sizable case with around ten PCI slots and lower it down with a riser cable. However, this seems like a rather clumsy GPU design, particularly since those screw holes appear to be purely decorative for show. This style choice is likely influenced by GAMA branding.
it sits about 2mm above the PCB and 1mm over the remaining back panel. based on what i see, that extra 1mm seems too much. a better fit would probably be a larger case with a nut and riser cable, but i don’t have either and prefer a neat appearance without all that clutter. i’d rather avoid filing parts of the chipset cooler since i already own a screwdriver and no other tools.
Are you asking about the size or elevation of the chipset cooler?
