I own a Gigabyte X470 Ultra Gaming motherboard and am planning to upgrade my CPU from 2600x to 5700X. This requires a BIOS update. I searched online for guidance on updating the BIOS and followed instructions from AMD’s website, installing the X470 chipset drivers and flashing the F31 version. After the update, I ran the EC Firmware Update tool, and the system is booting up. However, when checking system information, the reported BIOS version remains F2, just like before the flash. I decided to halt further updates to avoid damaging my motherboard. I also reviewed the BIOS settings to confirm the updated version appears there, but it still shows F2.

Absolutely, 100%. Using a different model wouldn't cause any damage.

Ensure the tool is executed prior to the F40 update as specified on the official Gigabyte motherboard support page.

The system features two bios. You must update both. Only Gigabyte @Bios is authorized for this task. Use the designated tool. Update the second bios, then the first, and repeat until successful.

You can use `@Bios` to update both the second and first BIOS by specifying them in the correct order within your commands. Make sure you reference the right BIOS files and follow the proper syntax for flashing.

You set it up and rely on it. That board failed for me many years back.
