And to reply, I’ll keep that plan until the upcoming release, assuming I only need a GPU to swap in for the 1060 with 6GB. The current setup seems pretty tough, but I’d be ready to upgrade once the Series 5000 CPU B450M is available. I’m considering NVIDIA’s Series 3000 or AMD’s RX 6000 series, and I’d like to test some new features if I decide to go with the Series 5000 CPU B450M. With the new BIOS, I could use those newer CPUs and take advantage of bar resizing on both AMD and NVIDIA cards!
I'm with you on this. My setup is almost identical to yours—just like your X370 Crosshair Extreme, mine uses the same board and I suspect it hasn't received any more BIOS updates. I also have a B450 in my wife's computer, which has already been updated for Ryzen 5000 support and fixed several smaller problems.
alternatives can often show up... for example on Asrock boards it was discovered you could transfer the BIOS from the B450 model onto the B350 version and it functions: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/k1...b350_mobo/ Think if you plan to upgrade in a few months or a year, then check the current status. Maybe someone finds a workaround like this, or perhaps someone manages to modify the BIOS file.
To you and others yeah that's about it never know what might happen in the custom space right but ill probably keep it and build a new one or like i said those crazy modders may find a loophole lol if i really need something to test whit out breaking my x370 c6h i got that custom liquid cooling loop to consider when taking my pc apart to upgrade so i got the b450m on amd sides of things for now and the new bios support the new buzzwords of this modern gpu era minus stocks still missing lol for it i can't test those right now lol bummer... lol
