Keeps going on/off in games, the white "home/overlay" button goes dim aswell. Sometimes it even vibrates when i just pick it up in my hand when its not even inside a game like desktop/browsers open.
Im not sure what the issue can be as i can barely troubleshoot it. Under device manager it will sometimes not even show up in the xbox controller option and there are times a while after i have unplugged/replugged it that it will show up normal but not long after it will give me this message :
"Unknown USB device (Device descriptor request failed)"

The device is experiencing intermittent functionality, potentially due to a short circuit caused by forceful pulling or damage. Symptoms include inconsistent operation and possible component failure. Due to the uncertain nature of the issue and potential for further damage, it’s advisable to discontinue use. Repairing this would require specialized tools and replacement parts, such as a multimeter, soldering equipment, and a donor USB cable, making self-repair unlikely without these resources.

The device appears to be experiencing intermittent functionality, potentially due to a short circuit within the cable or its connection points. This could stem from forceful pulling of the USB connector, controller rage-throwing, or random component failure. Due to these symptoms and potential for further damage, it’s advisable to discontinue use. Repairing this issue would require specialized tools like a multimeter, soldering equipment, and a replacement USB cable, making it a complex undertaking without proper diagnostic capabilities.

The X1 controller appears to be experiencing issues due to a potential problem with the included USB cable. Testing with an older Xbox 360 controller and a different USB cable (from a phone) revealed functionality, specifically the guide button lighting up, suggesting the cable is the likely culprit. The original cable may be faulty despite the controller being only one year old. A new micro USB cable is needed to resolve this issue.
