Hello! My dad recently asked me to assist him with his PC and I've attempted to resolve the issue but I'm unsure of the steps or actions to take.
He uses a Windows 10 system, not particularly advanced, yet he can't open the start menu using either the button or keyboard.
Most applications on the desktop are functional, though some don't respond at all.
I can press ctrl-alt-del to launch the task manager.
I'm unable to click or interact with the taskbar.
Opening pictures and documents is problematic, I encounter errors and see a grey X at the bottom of the mini-bar in the folder. This might relate to synchronization with OneDrive, Dropbox, or something similar.
I've tried restarting, enabled safe mode, and ran Windows and HDD repair, but nothing has worked.
Anyone have suggestions on what I should do?
I'm considering a reinstall as a final option.
Thanks.

I confirm my dad's computer runs Windows 10. Which version are you using? (Check the Start menu, select System, then the specifications part.) If you can boot into Safe Mode, please back up all essential data and reinstall the OS after setting up a new bootable USB drive for it. There’s an error with a grey X on the bottom of the minipic in the folder—possibly related to syncing with OneDrive or Dropbox. How much free space do you have on your C drive?
