The Windows Aero theme is not functioning correctly.
I installed an additional display now the aero theme won't reappear even after removing it. Graphics drivers are current.
Execute Windows Experience Index and attempt to set up the team again. Search for overriding Aero settings. I remember it involved a registry adjustment. Also, there was a known issue in Windows 7 where the selected team didn't match the applied theme. For example, choosing 'United States' would trigger High Contrast, while High-Contrast would default to Aero, and Aero Basic would show United States. It seems a recent Windows Update caused this inconsistency. Feel free to experiment and check if you encounter the same problem.
I checked my system and the diagnostic shows the graphics card can't handle the Aero theme. It's a 970 model.
Check the Nvidia website for the newest beta drivers. Install them using the setup tool. In the configuration, select Advanced settings. Disable Nvidia 3D features and enable a clean install. After completing, restart your system and it should work properly.
