So my laptop got the Windows 10 upgrade, and one thing I noticed really bothers me for some reason. The laptop doesn't have a password on it, so when you turn it on it boots straight to desktop, but on the screen just before the desktop where it says "Welcome" there is still a password entry box, even though the account doesn't have a password. The box isn't functional, you can type into it but clicking next or pressing enter does nothing. You wait a little bit without doing anything and eventually it just goes to the desktop as normal. Why does the password box even show up when the account doesn't have a password?

It occurred to me a few times. Just tap anywhere and hit Enter randomly. It should clear up. Or simply reboot.

Only one account appears consistently, every time. A photo is shown. The device functions normally thanks to the SSD, but the screen fades in for about three seconds before switching to the desktop. It bothers because of the persistent box obstructing the welcome message and spinning balls.

You can configure it to use your MSN password for login automatically, which might prevent this issue.

It seems there might be an issue with the latest updates. Did something go wrong during the installation?

No need to click anything. It functions properly, as though the box isn't present.

What I intended was to proceed without a Microsoft account tied in, just to avoid using a password.

I might create an MSN account if needed and apply this approach to resolve the problem—it functions for me.
