The Windows 10 update has fully reinitialized my computer.
Hey everyone, I just returned from a business trip and discovered my PC has updated itself automatically again—no questions asked (thanks, Microsoft). This time everything is missing: my settings vanished, the desktop reset completely, all shortcuts gone, language options lost, privacy settings erased, default programs removed, registry changes wiped, Outlook accounts and settings deleted, plus many smaller apps like Spotify. WTF Microsoft? Anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to restore it?
I oversee a modest network for a firm, and because Windows 10 was released recently, this issue appears after each major upgrade on any of our machines. So far, I haven’t discovered a solution.
never occurred to me. here are some questions:
1) can you confirm your profile folder is in C:\users?
2) how long did your business trip last? did you leave your PC on until you returned? were there sleep mode settings?
3) how do you think the Windows updates caused issues?
4) no login password was set—could someone have taken your HDD and swapped it?
5) did you meet anyone before you left?
6) where were you at 8pm on the night of March 24th?
7) do you have any suspects besides Microsoft?
