Windows became sluggish while I was playing with my friends in Rainbow Six Siege. I thought restarting would help, assuming it would fix the issue. During the reboot, a mandatory Windows update appeared, but my PC lagged and didn’t launch the game. After 10 minutes, I got back in and signed in successfully. The screen went black except for a small message in the top left: "Personalized settings (not responding)." I tried all possible solutions, but nothing resolved the problem. Now I’m resetting Windows. Just a note—even if updates aren’t being rolled out, they are still happening. Don’t update your PC unless you’ve backed up your files first.

Previous Windows 10 updates have damaged my system twice, and I've faced other major issues afterward. Installing new updates always carries risk because Microsoft has cut their testing team and now depends on users for beta testing. Disabling Windows Update is a smart choice. This guide explains how to turn it off.

Seems to be starting up properly. In the worst case, you might need to reinstall the operating system, but the device isn’t completely unusable. I also think you haven’t lost any important files.
