Windows 10 Task Manager closes in roughly five seconds. When you click the x it becomes white and displays only Task Manager, File Options, View Tabs, and a blank box below. The issue isn’t severe—my system still functions well—but it’s a small, bothersome glitch I’d like to resolve. I ran chkdsk and sfcscannow but found nothing unusual. I can share an image if you’d like, though printing screenshots doesn’t reveal the problem for some reason. Windows Status: Edition Windows 10 Enterprise Version 22H2, OS build 19045.2604, Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0.

I previously worked on a Chris Titus Tech debloat, so I have limited knowledge about background processes. Chrome usually runs around 32 processes. Overall, without Chrome open, there are roughly 74 processes, and Task Manager still takes time to close. I’ll attempt a disk cleanup and run a virus scan (which didn’t surface anything obvious). Update: completed cleanup and scan removed 9 GB of files. The scan found 3 items it eliminated. Task Manager remains slow to shut down. This issue has persisted for a few months, by the way.

It seems like this happened unexpectedly. I thought about doing a debloat a year ago, but it didn’t happen then. Recently, I learned that all the devices in my house—from my brother’s laptop to my parents’—are going through this too. I didn’t do anything to prevent it.

I didn't aim to bring back an old issue, but I wanted to mention that I've also completed the CTT debloat on my system (applied to both Windows 11 and 10). My Task Manager occasionally performs this action when I close it. It seems the problem occurs more often if I close it right after opening it. Likely, the Task Manager is launching a service that was previously stopped, and closing it while the service starts causes a brief pause before it finishes. That's my thought.

This performs a specific action, likely related to processing or executing a command.
