I allowed my laptop to install the fall creator's update overnight. Upon returning the next day, it would start but the wallpaper appeared black beyond the lock screen, and nothing except Windows Explorer opened. Eventually, it displayed the blue screen of death. This only occurred when plugged in, whereas it functioned perfectly on battery. I tried connecting after a while and the issue reappeared instantly—then I rolled back the update, restoring normal operation. I later attempted another update to check if it was an isolated error, but the problem persisted. The blue screen indicates DRIVER_POWER_STATE_ERROR, yet no device errors showed up in Device Manager. The laptop powers on normally when connected, but requires a restart while unplugged to become usable again.

I truly regret relying on this update, as it prevents me from rolling back my laptop even though I can still access the old Windows folder. The only option seems to be reinstalling build 1703.

I also recalled that my computer powers off entirely when I switch it to sleep mode, making it seem like a complete shutdown.
